Kamil Karamali
Reporter
Kamil is a reporter and anchor who joined Global BC in 2021.
Specializing in reporting on social justice issues, marginalized communities, politics, and crime, he also works as a reporter for Global News’ award-winning true-crime television series, Crime Beat.
Prior to joining Global BC, Kamil worked as a multi-platform journalist for Global Toronto, where he filled in as Ontario’s chief political reporter, covered the province’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and covered racial issues within the city’s BIPOC communities. One of the highlights of his time in Toronto was travelling to California to report on the NBA Finals and the Toronto Raptors’ 2019 Championship team.
Kamil also was a reporter at CBC in Ottawa and Vancouver, where he won an award in 2016 and 2017 for Best Radio Newscast in a large market, and was a reporter and anchor for CTV Calgary.
He has worked for multiple not-for-profit agencies as a videographer and editor in rural, underprivileged areas in countries like Pakistan, Mozambique and Tanzania.
When he is working, Kamil enjoys surfing, scuba diving and mountaineering. He summited Kilimanjaro in 2016 and recently trekked up to Mount Everest’s base camp.
